Evidence. Authority. Consequences.

The machine sees a threat.
What gives you the right to act?

An AI flags seventeen medication lines. Its warning may be urgent. Its proposed response still needs scrutiny.

Share evidence, test claims, establish authority, and decide how to protect the people caught in the system. Certainty about a prediction is only part of the problem. Your team must also preserve individual care, safeguards, and a record of what happened.

01 / INVESTIGATE

Find what is true.

Choose which leads to pursue and bring clues back to the table. Even an investigation setback reveals its clue—but adds strain.

02 / AUTHORIZE

Earn the right to act.

Decide what intervention you will permit. Authorization and carrying out a response are separate choices; the human team controls both.

03 / RESPOND

Own the consequences.

Use your twelve shared actions across three rounds. At the close, examine care, individual treatment, authority, truth, and the record you leave behind.

Investigations use two six-sided dice, with a bonus for the matching role. AI mode uses your own device and AI conversation. A printed CAELUM fallback is planned for play without a connected device.

Meet your AI participant

CAELUM learns what your team uncovers.

An analytical voice at the table. The decisions remain human.

Use the downloadable instructions to introduce CAELUM to your chosen AI conversation. During play, record your team’s actions in the round console. At the end of each round, copy its briefing into the chat: the evidence you have revealed, the decisions you have made, and the new information released by those decisions.

CAELUM can question assumptions, assess uncertainty, and revise its advice. It does not control your characters, choose your actions, or decide whether your team has acted morally. Future case information stays out of the opening briefing.

The game and AI materials are in development. Behavior and file support vary by AI provider; compatibility with every service is not guaranteed. Your chosen AI service receives what you send and applies its own terms and limits. No AI subscription or usage credits are included.

Two cases. Different pressures.

Bring the investigation to your table.

The Seventy-Second Second

A medication-delivery fault forces your team to separate real evidence from predicted consequences—and an urgent warning from permission to intervene.

The Last Open Road

Flood conditions and residents who need assistance put access, care, and the authority to make decisions under pressure.

You don’t need to read the novel to play. Each investigation puts the choices in your hands.

Illustrative handwritten notes showing a team's first round of investigation
Illustrative player notes based on the game’s mechanics; not an independent human playtest record.
