THE INNOCENCE PROTOCOLFICTION BY ROBERT WESCOTT
Necessary reader access · Not optional audience analytics

Reader agreement & privacy

This supplement takes effect with reader terms IP-READER-TERMS-20261003-v1, at 2026-10-03T08:18:07+00:00. Operator: Robert Wescott, rob@thesagedad.com.

What we record

The existing service verifies your email using a one-time email link, stores verified-reader sessions, and uses the Secure, HttpOnly sm_reader cookie for up to 180 days. Email verification alone does not accept terms. Verification uses the existing email provider, Resend, and existing account records.

The agreement ledger privately records your email/account reference, acceptance timestamp, the verification-event timestamp, a hash of the session used, the exact agreement and screen versions and hashes, age/capacity self-confirmation, grant scope, and any access closure or revocation. A random, necessary ip_reader_entry cookie lasts up to 30 minutes to protect the verification-request form. Temporary form challenges are removed within a day after expiry.

This extension does not record a chapter-by-chapter reading history, your form keystrokes, raw network addresses or device fingerprint. It does not send agreement identities to PostHog. Existing hosting, security and email-provider processing is described separately in the site privacy notice; their existing logs are not erased or redefined by this supplement.

Purpose and retention

These records operate free controlled access, maintain security and document the agreement. Acceptance receipts are normally retained for 30 days after acceptance, then deleted by the maintenance process; limited records may be held longer for an identified legal obligation or actual dispute. This duration is the operator’s selected policy, not a claim that the law mandates that period. Deletion may require fresh acceptance for later access.

Closing agreement access does not automatically delete a retained receipt or change newsletter preferences. A minimal account/access-closure record is retained while access remains closed, so expiry of a receipt does not automatically reopen a suspended account; contact the operator to request review or removal. Contact the operator to request access, correction, deletion, an accommodation or a privacy review. Requests are assessed under applicable law, including necessary limited dispute retention. Routine operational backups must be kept private and expired consistently; the operator's deployment guide requires a maximum 30-day rotation for ordinary ledger backups, except a documented legal hold.

Separate choices

Acceptance is not permission to send marketing messages, use optional audience analytics, sell information, or connect your email to PostHog. No newsletter entry is created by verification or agreement. Previously selected analytics preferences remain independent.

Your copy

View your own acceptance receipt after email verification. Effective agreement versions remain accessible at their versioned URLs; the operator can provide a retained copy on request. Public book announcements remain readable without agreement.
